Our Mission:

Council Bluffs Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Department is dedicated to the enhancement and promotion of quality of life by satisfying and responding to the needs of the community by providing:

  • Stewardship through the maintenance and preservation of natural resources, historic sites, and public facilities;

  • Safe active/passive recreational opportunities for all;

  • A learning environment; and,

  • To serve the public by making Council Bluffs a better place to live.

All Council Bluffs Trails Are Opened -Due to 2011 Flooding, People riding or walking on the Iowa River Front Trail must use caution. Work continues along the levee system. Keep an eye out for equipment and changing conditions

Congratulations to Rick House, CB Rec Complex Supervisor!

Rick and his crew at the CB Rec Complex were awarded the 2011 Iowa Baseball Field of the Year Award by the Iowa Chapter Sports Turf Manager's Association. We have a great Rec Complex and it was nice to see their hard work gets noticed!

Sailing Anyone?!

The Council Bluffs Parks & Rec Department is partnering with the Lake Manawa Sailing School of provide sailing lessons this summer. Boys & Girls, ages 12-15 can learn to sail the week of June 11-15th, from 1-4pm. The cost is $70/includes all materials. Download the flyer below.

K-3rd Indoor Soccer Registrations Begin December 1st.

  • K-1st graders will play 4-on-4 on teams against each other and 2nd-3rd graders will play 4-on-4 on teams against each other. Cost is just $30/player or $25 if you already have shirts from a previous year or sport.
    DEADLINE IS FEB. 3RD!

  • Games are played on Saturday mornings starting Feb. 25th at Wilson or Kirn Middle School.
