Fishing in City Parks

Look Here!REEL IN FAMILY FUN AND TROUT!

Iowa Department of Natural Resources, in conjunction with Western Historic Trails Center and Council Bluffs Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department, have stocked Lake Sauguanash and Not Big Lake with 1500 trout on October 22, 2009. Trout fees required and fishing licenses required for ages 16 and older. Children under 16 accompained by a properly licensed adult (trout fee included) do not need to pay the trout fee, but the combined limit is 5 per day. Big Lake is under restoration and will be stocked with warm water fish the Spring of 2010. Trout stocking will resume in the Fall of 2010 at Big Lake if Trout are available

  • Big Lake - 2600 N 8th Street (under renovation until spring 2010)

  • Lake Sauganash at the Western Historic Trails Center - 3434 Richard Downing Avenue

  • All state fishing license requirements apply (click on the link below)

  • Lakes are stocked periodically through the year with Rainbow Trout
